“I just need to do an e-mail blast. Everyone’s doing it so it must work!”
Nowadays it seems to be the “in thing”. Do an e-mail blast and the business will come rushing in!
Well, that couldn’t be further than the truth. We have been around long enough to have seen the evolution of e-mail marketing to where it is now. In the early days e-mail lists costs about $1-5 per name but pulled ten times better than direct mail. That’s when there were only a few thousand websites on the Internet and it was a novelty for a prospect to get a solicitation in their “in box”. Just think of it! You could actually click on a link in the message and it would open a web browser and display a website!
Well the novelty has worn off! Now we fear opening our “in box”. Fear that in doing so we might get a virus or at best will get a ton of unsolicited “junk” e-mail. Thank goodness for antivirus software and SPAM filters!
Based upon our findings, we believe that only about 30% to 50% of prospects now days actually get to see a solicitation sent through an e-mail blast. Most SPAM filters are set so high that only rarely will a person see “junk” e-mail.
Enough of the doom and gloom. Now the good news!
How do businesses successfully run e-mail marketing programs? You need to be more sophisticated! Basically you need to be able to fool the SPAM filter in allowing your message to go through to it’s intended target. We show you some key tips here at: Tell Me More About E-Mail Lists.
Bottom line, you need to test not only your lists to see which pull best, but you also need to test your “Subject Line” your “Offer and your “Message”.”
