More and more companies are using direct E-Mail to promote their product. Successful E-mail marketing uses almost the same formula as direct mail.

               40% of your success is what your subject line says.

               30% of your success is directly related to your targeted list.

               20% your offer (why should they respond to your solicitation).

               10% how your copy is written.

There is a ton of “spam” out there, and it’s imperative you choose a subject line germane to the targeted reader. If (for example) you are an insurance company and you’re targeting homeowners who have multiple cars and in the household and there is a presence of a teenager old enough to drive; your subject line shouldn’t be “Save money on car insurance”, but perhaps “Insurance discounts given to parents with teenage drivers”.

There are a lot of e-mail lists on the market today. E-mail marketing is still a relatively new advertising channel. We have excellent double opt-in B-to-B and B-to-C E-mail lists to meet your needs.

There are companies who say they have an excellent list and can sell you millions of names for under a thousand dollars. Be very careful with these lists, they are vastly overused and often create more ill will than any benefit you may derive from using them, not counting the viruses you might get back from your efforts by disgruntled persons who received your “spam”.

ALWAYS use double opt-in lists.

Unless you are prepared to throw away your company’s image by spamming millions of potential prospects, I suggest you use a similar theory as you would with a direct mail list, except instead of Test, Test and Test some more, you also need to Target, Target, Target!

Double opt-in list means the recipient has had at least two chances to unsubscribe for the list and have chosen NOT to. If it’s not double opt-in, it’s a SPAM list. Don’t use it!

Many think quality E-mail lists are expensive, however when you compare the cost against using direct mail, it is usually less expensive, yet it’s immediate and you can track your success.
