If you are sending e-mail messages without a signature file (name stamp) you are neglecting a great and FREE way to promote your web site. This is how it works.

You start by preparing a brief blurb to attach to the bottom of your e-mail messages. You can include whatever you like but the most useful are things like your name, address, web site URL, and teaser lines to get people to visit your web site. The  signature file is a little bit like a "return address" that is used on stationary letterhead.

Here is an example of one signature file (I have several different  styles) that I attach to my e-mail messages.

Here is what to do to make the most use of a signature file.

1. Check the e-mail software you are using. There should be an option under Tools for "create signature file" or "create signature stamp" or some similar wording to this.

2. Follow the instructions provided to create the file. Now when you are deciding what to put in it, keep these things in mind:

a) Your signature file should be brief (4 or 5 lines)

b) It should provide contact information including some the following:
        your name, autoresponders, URL, e-mail, office location, fax on demand,
        phone, fax etc.

c) It should provide at least one or two STRONG reasons for people to want to visit your site when they read the signature file. This might be with a special offer, or a sentence or two about what they get if they visit your site,  etc.

3. Once you've created the file and saved it you will need to attach it to your e-mail messages. You can do this by using the tools option  from your e-mail software to attach the file. Some e-mail programs such as Eudora Pro,allow you to create several different signature files that you can pick and choose from based on your purpose.

Now, whenever you send out an e-mail message be sure to attach your signature file. It saves you from having to type the same information over and over again, it's a free way to get traffic to your site, and it looks professional.
